Legalisation is a process of document authentication observed by international governments. If you intend to use a document overseas then local authorities require it to be legalised before it can be considered valid. Each country has its own legalisation requirements determined by the type of document being legalised and its intended use.

Common documents that may require legalisation are:

  • Birth and Marriage Certificates
  • AFP/State Police Checks
  • Company Registration Certificates

  • Private Documents
  • Education Documents
  • Commercial Documents

Legalisation is a multi-step process. Your document must be legalised by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). and by the Embassy of the destination country to be considered genuine and valid.

We can help. Contact our legalisation experts at legalisations@cibtvisas.sg to begin a consultation. We will take the time to understand your legalisation needs and work with you step-by-step to ensure you get the right documents in a timely fashion.

Apostille: An Apostille is a stamp that ensures the authenticity of your official documents. Apostilles are issued by The Foreign Office certifying your documents as genuine and are required by the following countries.

Legalisation: When the country in which you intend to use your document has not signed the Apostille Treaty, a legalisation is required. Whichever process you need CIBTvisas can arrange all stages of your legalisation process.

Translations: In some cases governments will require that documents be translated. We can translate your documents for use by the appropriate embassy or government agency. We can also translate foreign documents into English.

Notarisation: Notarisation verifies the authenticity of facts set out in a document and some countries require notarization. We provide notarisation services to assure that your important documents are considered valid and legal.
